  • Dishwasher-safe reusable glass water bottles with BPA-free plastic lids
  • Keep your Aqua Sana filtered water, juiced vegetables, or fruit infusions cool in the refrigerator
  • Bottle your own to minimize waste

For me these bottles are perfect. If you stand up a paperback book next to one, you'll find that the book just reaches the bottom of the bottleneck where the threads start. The circumference is the same as a 24oz soda bottle. That gives you a good idea of the size. The caps only need to be hand tightened to accomplish a waterproof seal. I recently moved and found that 2 of my caps had vanished during the move. I contacted aquasana and they sent me 2 new caps for 1.50 each.

I make my own homemade tea. I make a pitcher and then use it to fill three of these bottles. I then make a different kind of tea and fill the other three bottles. Then when I want tea, I just have to grab a bottle from the fridge. Just as convenient as store bought tea, but not nearly as expensive.

To clean I put them in the bottom rack of the dishwasher, one tine per bottle. I put the caps in the silverware basket and close the lid (of the silverware basket). If you don't have a lid on your silverware basket you might want to just had wash the caps.

The things I like best about this blender are its wide bottom hugging blade design and the wide based BPA-free jar that makes easier to get blended concoctions out of the container. The unique blade system means that you won't have to stop the blender and resituate the ingredients often if at all like with a lot of other blenders. I make green smoothies with about a half pound of fresh spinach, a cup of water, a few ice cubes, frozen berries, a few leaves of kale, a couple cups of cabbage, a peeled banana and lemon and flax seed. Before getting this blender, the only one that could handle this type of smoothie is the Vitamix 4500. But with the Vitamix I had to use the tamper several times or turn it off and rearrange the ingredients that were stuck down at the bottom to get it to start blending again. With the Breville, I don't have to use a tamper and don't have to resituate the ingredients because they don't have a tendency to get stuck.

This blender has a smart, sturdy looking design that looks good on my kitchen counter. It feels substantial and you can tell that a lot of thought went into the design. It is a 750-Watt blender with LCD timer. It has a 48 oz. BPA-free jug. There are 5 speed buttons: Snow, Mix, Blend, Liquefy, and Puree, plus Pulse, Ice Crush and Smoothie buttons. The Ice Crush and Smoothie buttons are minute long pre-programmed blender settings which include a variety of speeds to optimize the process of crushing ice or making smoothies. The first time I used this blender I just used the #5 or Purify button and it did a good job of making all the fruits and veggies into a smooth icy drink.

"The Juicing Bible" seems to have been written for a very specific audience. If you have a well stocked cupboard filled with spices and a garden filled with herbs then this book might be what you are looking for. After looking through the entire book I found one recipe I could actually make without searching in a health store for uncommon ingredients. The recipe I tried was the "Apple Spice Cocktail." This used ingredients I had in my refrigerator and instead of the spices recommended I just used cinnamon. So in a way I created my own recipe based on a good idea.

Some of the ingredients in this book include: lavender, powdered licorice, dandelions, powdered linden flower, borage leaves, acai berries, red raspberry leaves, stinging nettle, kelp, astragalus root, meadowsweet and apricot milk. While I've heard of these ingredients before I have no idea where to get them. The small sources section at the back of the book doesn't really give me any clues as to who carries which herbs. Most of the spices used in this book can however be found at your local grocery store.

This book is divided into 8 main sections which include:

Healthy Body Systems - A brief discussion of the endocrine system, immune system, musculoskeletal system, nervous system and respiratory system. There is a short discussion of hyperthyroidism, hypothyroidism, arthritis, osteoporosis, muscle spasms, anxiety, depression, memory loss, asthma and allergies.

Health Conditions - This is a comprehensive section organized alphabetically. It discusses things like cancer prevention, headaches, indigestion and water retention.
Each illness is discussed and remedies are given. The remedies include healing foods and herbs. Healing drinks are listed at the end of each section.

Juicer Drink Fountain

First of all, a distinction needs to be made on exactly what type of juicer the Breville is, only then will these reviews be helpful. The Breville belongs to a class of juicers called centrifugal juicers. These work by forcing the juicing item onto centrally located spinning blades that essentially finely grates it and then the contents are thrown outward onto a spinning screen (spinning at a thousand or more revolutions per minute)... this forces the juice through the screen while the pulp gets held back and eventually slides up the angled screen and gets thrown over the top and into a holding bin... and thus the juice is separated from the pulp. The other types of juicers are the masticating juicer, where the item is literally crushed in an auger (a big screw) and compressed so that the juice flows through a small screen in the bottom while the pulp is pushed forward where it gets ejected at the far end... and the other type is the citrus juicer which is basically an electrically powered reamer used to semi-manually ream-out citrus fruits quickly. And finally there is the common kitchen blender.

Each type of juicer has it advantages and disadvantages... to be able to juice ALL types of vegetables and fruits well and efficiently you will actually need all four types of juicers. In reverse order.
